Mattresses Continued

Last month I told you some common myths about mattresses.  Today I want to discuss 3 popular basic mattress types available.

An Innerspring mattress is the traditional type from your childhood which is affordable and available in many firmness types.  These mattresses are usually made with steel coil springs individually wrapped and topped with thick padding such as foam, fibers or additional mini springs.  Innerspring mattresses can be noisy compared to other mattresses and have poor motion control.

Do you want a mattress originally developed for NASA for crash protection?  Then a Memory-Foam mattress is perfect for you.  Memory-foam conforms to your body and disperses your weight throughout the entire mattress plus they are great for bad joints and restless sleepers.  Foam mattresses have a tendency to have very strong odors out of the box and retain heat while sleeping.

Lastly, Air mattresses have recently become very popular and are very similar to blow up mattresses but are made of individual air chambers covered by foam layers on top.  Air mattresses are wonderful for couples who prefer different firmness levels because each side can be customized.  However air mattresses can be more expensive and potentially brake more often due to the needed pump motor.

If you can’t decide on which mattress is best for you, consider a Hybrid mattress which can be various combinations of all the above.
