Red, Whites and Blues

Red, White & Blue Room

Red, White & Blue Room

It’s the time of the year that I see these colors displayed so proudly in retail stores, combined in clothing and on front porch flags and in gardens. As a designer I often wonder why I don’t use this combination of colors more frequently in interior design. Red and blue are primary colors and white is the perfect neutral so it’s no wonder that these colors are pleasing to the eyes.

If you are concerned about this color scheme looking to much like a flag try adding in a bit of pale green or changing the red to a red-orange.  Or instead of navy blue, use a watery aquamarine blue.  Lastly, think about painting a piece of furniture in a strong red or blue to carry the color scheme throughout the entire house.
