The year 2020 has not been a stellar. I will not go into the long list because also in North Carolina, we all know it and are living it daily. That is why I am not surprised that Sherwin Williams picked Urbane Bronze, SW 7048, as its Color of the Year. Urbane Bronze is a calm color which is something we desperately need.
Interior Designers like me are very keen to read moods. I often ask my clients what kind of feeling they would like to have when they enter spaces. I base my designs on their answers. Urbane Bronze is serene, grounded and meditative. Perfect for 2020.
This paint color is a warm neutral with gray undertones which also evoke a feeling and mood of their own. Sherwin Williams suggests using this color with natural bone colored whites such as Worldly Gray. I see using this color in very popular traditional and mid-century modern designs with lots of brass and gold accents. Almost any shade of green will work perfectly with Urbane Bronze so pairing it with lots of natural indoor green plants is perfect. This color would also work with comforting dark brown/black leather chairs and ottomans.
Urbane Bronze would also make a great exterior paint color for the same reason. Large trees and wooded areas really frame this color. It is a natural color so wood finishes feel a connection to this color. Call me to discuss Urbane Bronze and how to add this great color to your home.
